These are the dog days of summer!

Hot doesn't even begin to describe the weather we've been having this summer. No complaining here though! We've been making full use of it by boating and swimming as much as we can.
Owen went to school this past Monday and did really well...no tears from baby or mom! He also caught what we believe is his first cold - boo. Thankfully all the sneezing, runny nose snorts and coughing does't keep him up at night though! He continues to do amazing in the sleep category and has been sleeping through the night for the past month...goes to bed around 8:30pm and doesn't make a peep til 6am! We are VERY happy about this!
Other development milestones include a broader vocabulary with a squeal here and there when necessary. He also has figured out how to grab at everything and it all goes directly into the mouth...mom's shoulder is a great chew toy as well. While there are no budding teeth just yet, there is the world's supply of drool the leaks from his mouth 24-7. So much so the we've been known to go through 3 bibs in one day!
This is mom's last week of maternity leave and to make the most of it Dad took it off as well! The plan this week is a whole lot of boating, BBQing with family, trip to Stillwater and anything that involves staying cool!
That's it for now....more to come later this week.

Happy 3 month birthday Owen!!!

That's right Owen is a whopping 3, yes you read that right, 3 months old today! As parents we now understand so much more: you can never talk too much about sleep and poop, the day your child first smiles at you all memories of sleepless nights seem to disappear, never say you'll never do this or that because at 2am you'll do just about anything, acid reflux seems to be the new answer to an over tired baby and when in doubt TRUST YOUR GUT FEELING on everything! No one knows your baby more than you, not even the ped!....but the most important thing we've learned is how much we adore our son and can't imagine life without him!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY OWEN! Mommy and Daddy love you 'to the moon and back'! (Other parents you may recognize this quote from one of our favorite books :))
Here is a picture of our little birthday prince hard at work......growing that is. A few of Owen's daily occurances these days are discovering he has 2 hands! All the more to suck and drool on. We also love to bat at our toys either on the play mat or while in the bouncer. When we're not doing that we also love to tell stories and sing - a lot!! 'Ah-goo' seems to be the word of choice these days. Smiles continue to grace faces and even an few belly laughs!
Off to play in the water with Dad and then enjoy a bbq with the Schrievers....another amazing summer day in the life of the Schulze Crew. Happy Friday all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!!!

Happy Fourth of July! The Schulze crew as been busy doing a whole lot of relaxing these lazy summer days....Owen is growing like a weed. We had our 2mo check up last week coming in at 13.4lbs, 24.25 inches tall and a big 16.5inch head! All in the 90th percentile and a very healthy boy! Thank goodness for that. Reflux seems to be subsiding which is good - makes for a happier baby and mom and dad. Got a few shots which may have been more painful for mom to watch than for the little man himself, but we all managed through it.
This weekend we've been enjoying spending time with friends and family boating and bbqing...true American past time that's for sure! Hope to get in a parade and sand castle contest today as well. Started the day off right with a solid 8hrs of sleep (we LOVE that!) followed by a yummy breasfast out as a family and then home to play with our new play mat which Owen loves! Score on that toy AND it entertains him so mom and dad's vocal chordes can take a break from all the baby talk and singing (lots of 'wheels on the bus' over here).
Off to check the radar and see if this rain will hold off for a while....happy 4th all!
