another melon this week!

Another weekend down, another week closer to Owen’s arrival!

Here is this week’s baby update….

Your baby is gaining about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy hair that covered his body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Next week, your baby will be considered full-term.

Doctor confirmed last week that if he were born this week he’d be just fine and healthy!  Room is finished, monitors are hooked up and charged, diapers are out, hospital bags are packed and car seat is in the car!  We are officially r-e-a-d-y!

Have a great week,

Ben and Em

we're a honeydew this week!!!

Happy Monday and Happy SPRING everyone,

Here is the latest baby update….not much longer to go!!!

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Amazing to think he can still be putting on weight….where does it go?!  I swear he must be so cramped in there!

Spent the weekend finishing up purchasing things for his arrival and we are all set to go!

Have a wonderful Monday…..Ben and Em

Can anyone tell me where Spring is?

Good morning -

Ben and Summit woke up early today to go on an adventure to Baker Park in Long Lake, MN to watch the sun come up and take some "Spring" photos since today is the first day of Spring....well actually we were about 6 hours early.  Emily stayed home to continue sleeping and growing a healthy baby.  The baby's newest discovery is being able to kick his strong legs into momma's ribs making sleeping at night very interesting.  We'll tell him all about this some day...........

Happy first day of Spring!

35 wk check up!

Happy St. Patty’s day!

Just had our 35 wk check up and the little guy is doing quite well!!

Heard a very healthy heartbeat and he is positioned head down which is great to hear!

Doctor is estimating him around 5 lbs as of today and projects he’ll be a very healthy 7 lbs baby – no 11 lbs like his Daddy! (Mom is grateful to hear this J)

34 wks and the size of a CANTALOUPE!!!

In spirit of the new blog I’m going to begin posting the weekly baby updates many of you get here – hope you enjoy!

For those that haven’t seen this before, we signed up on babycenter.com which is a great site that gives weekly updates on the progress mom and baby make through the entire pregnancy. We find it fascinating and anxiously await for the weekly email updates!

Time be a ticking away!!!

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which she'll need to regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Happy Monday everyone!

Baby Shower at the Schulze's

Today we had a wonderful baby shower for Owen at Grandma and Grandpa Schulze's in Lakeville.  The weather was beautiful (Sunny and 64F) and we had such a good time with friends and family playing games and enjoying each others company.  We really appreciate all of the great parenting advice........keep it coming!  Ok, 6 weeks left and counting...........

Have a wonderful week all.
